Russian Blues for Sale & Adoption
Russian Blues don't only look appealing, they're also a lot of fun to have around the house. Sure, their shimmering, yet fuzzy silver and blue coats, along with their brilliant and sparkling green eyes are stunningly beautiful, but it's most likely the fact that these cats are highly intelligent and playful that prompts folks to buy or adopt the breed.
This is a gentle and loving breed of cat that won't begin playing in earnest until he or she knows you. This cat must become familiar and comfortable with their owner or house guest before it shows off its true personality. Once it does know you though, its devotion and affectionate nature will be fully revealed. It'll likely greet you at the door when you return home, base its activities and own mood on your mood and personality type, join you on the couch or while you're sitting at your desk, and chase toys around the home during playtime. Mind you, the Russian Blue loves to fetch, so be ready for that. It's a favorite activity. This is one cat breed that doesn't like noise though, so if you're planning on making a lot of it due to vaccuuming the house, having company over, or some type of construction, find a quiet place away from all of the activity for your beloved cat. Otherwise, this cat doesn't ask for much. Just a good meal, some attention, and a few windowsill from which to watch outside wildlife. When it comes to grooming, the Russian Blue is fairly hands off. Since this is a short haired breed, much of the grooming is done by the cat itself, but it'll always accept and appreciate a good brushing from you. Also, be sure to regularly trim this cat's nails and provide it with good nutrition.
It's not exactly known where this breed of cat originated. Of course, most rumors base it out of Russia, but beyond that, it's all speculation. Consensus has somewhat formed around the idea that since this cat has a thicker coat than most cats do, it comes from the northern regions of Russia and that it made its way to Europe and eventually the United States by boat in the 1800s. It's also said that this particular breed stems from other cats that have been kept and owned by various Russian Czars.
